How Gooseneck Kettle work?

  • To create the perfect cup of barista-quality coffee with your gooseneck kettle with thermometer, follow these steps:

    • Fill the gooseneck kettle to just below the handle.
    • Place the kettle on any stovetop. Whether you have an electric stovetop, gas, ceramic, or an induction stovetop, they will all work for the Uno Casa Gooseneck Kettle.
    • While your gooseneck kettle is heating up, grind your coffee beans to a medium coarseness. The grind that you should use depends heavily on the type of brewing method you use. With the pour-over method, a medium coarseness works best. It is perfect for slowly extracting out the flavor with a slow hand pour.
    • Heat the water until the built-in thermometer indicates a temperature between 195°F and 205°F. This is the perfect heat to produce the perfect brew! Using boiling water can agitate the grounds and hinder the extraction process. Using water that's too hot can give the coffee an unpleasant bitter flavor. If you use water that's too cold, you won't extract enough flavor, and the coffee could taste weak and tasteless.
    • Prepare your dripper by placing a filter of some sort over your cup. Then, add the coffee grounds and shake the cup and filter lightly.
    • Start pouring slowly from the center of the filter. The first pour is to wet the grounds and let it 'bloom.' Blooming is necessary to release the gases in the coffee. If you don't allow it to bloom, the water won't be able get to the grounds and extract the flavor as efficiently as possible.
    • Allow the coffee to bloom for around 35 to 45 seconds to ensure optimal flavor extraction.
    • Continue pouring water over the coffee grounds evenly in a circular motion. Take your time; it should take around 2 - 3 minutes.
    • You will want to make sure you have around double the volume of water in relation to your coffee grounds. The ration is an important aspect and can vary between person to person. You can move the ratio up or down depending on how strong you would like your coffee to be.
